Have your parents ever warned you not to mix around with that particular kid? That boy your parents tell you to stay away from? And everything your parents don't want you to end up to be like? I'm that guy.
Guys, why do we have competitions? Is it to confront our personal goals? To reveal our deepest, hidden talents? Or do we have it to prove someone wrong?
Singapore Idol is the main local talent show in our country and it has produced 2 winners in its past 2 seasons- Taufik Batisah & Hady Mirza. It started a new season past August and after yesterday night, it produced another idol, Sezairi Sezali.
Now, the common factor among these 3 guys are that they're all male & they're all Malay-Muslims. Yes, it may be a coincidence that all winners are of that race and gender but where is the freaking support?
Immediately after crowning the new idol, posts about the results were flooded online. I'm not a big fan of these idols but I'm sure as hell a big fan of what I hate- racists. I could take my time and spread some racist word online but no, that wouldn't be nice, would it?
Competitions are for kicking butts, taking total comfort & throwing it out the window. Taking the leap to prove that you're not just anybody. And if you win, you're somebody.
I'm going to end this on an open note;
We just proved that minorities can be as major as what you used to dismiss.
